BEGINNING GUN DOG TRAINING

The goal of the gun dog training is to teach the basics of waterfowl and upland bird hunting to your dog.  At the end of the program your dog should stay quietly in the duck blind, retrieve downed ducks and bring them back delivered to hand. They will be taught hunting techniques as well as obedience commands such as heel, sit, stay, down and come when called.

The first part of the training will include the basic obedience and also force fetch to pick up a bumper and to hold. After the first month you will be asked to come and observe your dog training and to see if you would like to continue with the program.

Your dog will be taught to flush and retrieve birds on land and also in water. They will be introduced to gun shots. We also train dogs to take hand signals and to do a blind retrieve. We teach them to sit on the whistle. This generally takes an additional two to three months on top of the regular gun dog training.

The compete gun dog training takes a minimum of 4 months and up to as long as 9 months. The dog has to be at least 6 months of age to begin the training. The cost is $650 a month, with one month paid in advance and the rest billed monthly. The dogs are housed in individual kennls and are fed quality dog food. We do provide pigeons for training, but pheasants and ducks are extra. Any needed veterinary expenses during your dog's stay are extra.

***Must have proof of current vaccinations***
